Easter Recipe and Craft ideas

It’s really hard to believe that Easter is this Sunday. We had a 2-hour delay this morning for snow, it’s not feeling very springy right now. Regardless, I love Easter and all of the beautiful pastels and spring flowers that are starting to show up in the store. I’m a sucker for ranunculus, tulips, and peonies. And pretty much anything with chicks and bunnies. So yeah, I really like Easter.

Here are a few recipes and crafts to get you in the Easter spirit. (Also to get you in the spirit, Pope Francis is now in Instagram. I went to the Papal audience in Rome a few years ago, it was amazing.)

Typically, I make Easter brunch. We eat late morning, early afternoon. I like to make things that can be served room temperature. Like quiche, ham and biscuits, a sweet roll of some kind, a springy salad. Easy things that can be enjoyed when I went them to be. Maybe we don’t feel like eating until after church, or maybe we want to be outside all day. I like things that can be reheated or picked at. Here are a few fun Easter recipes and crafts that I love this holiday season.

Chick Cottage Cupcakes – This is something that doubles as a recipe and a craft. You can have a cottage making stations set up for the little ones to make their own chick cottages for dessert. My kids loved making these, and of course eating them too.

carrot cake trifle recipe

Carrot Cake Trifle – My mom makes the best carrot cake ever. Hers has pineapple and coconut (no raisins!) and I made a trifle that was a play on her carrot cake recipe. Fresh pineapple, toasted coconut, pecans, mascarpone filling and lots of whipped cream. This tastes even better the next day.

orange sunshine roll recipe

Orange Sunshine Rolls – This looks so complicated, and I promise you that it is not. This can be made the day before and baked fresh when you are ready for it. This is seriously one of my favorite things ever.

carrot pinata

Carrot Pinata – I can’t even begin to tell you how proud I was of myself when I made this pinata. Not only did it actually work, but it’s adorable! Your little bunnies will love cracking into this pinata. It was messy (not going to lie) but it was so much fun to make. I found green and orange crepe paper at Walmart and it made decorating so easy.

corn, basil, and bacon quiche

Corn, Basil, Bacon, and Cheddar Quiche – I love quiche. It’s incredibly versatile. Put in whatever you want. Serve it hot. Serve it room temperature. I think it’s best when you make your own crust, but I won’t judge if you use a premade one. This also a great make ahead dish.

tropical fruit tart

Tropical Fruit Tart – This dessert is really elegant and looks beautiful. The crust is really forgiving and the filling is a ginger pastry cream. I wouldn’t tell if you used a pudding mix.

So there you go, some fun and springy Easter recipes and crafts. Happy Easter!
