Student Choice: Best Professors are in Business

Iowa State Daily SC AwardsAMES, Iowa – Iowa State University students selected two College of Business professors as the best professors on campus during an annual student survey conducted by the ISU Daily.

Every year, the ISU Daily asks the student body which companies and organizations in Ames they think are “the best of the best.”

Mike Bootsma, senior lecturer in accounting and Dean’s Teaching Fellow, received the most votes and was named Best Professor. Anne Clem, senior lecturer in accounting and the Elaine R. Everson Teaching Fellow, was first runner up.

“It is humbling to receive this type of recognition from the student body,” Bootsma said. “This makes me want to work even harder. I am very thankful and I can’t think of a place I would rather teach than Iowa State!”

The feeling was shared by Clem.

“I am humbled to have been recognized by the Iowa State student body,” said Clem, who was also recognized in the The Princeton Review Best 300 Professors in 2012. “We have such amazing students and faculty on this campus and in the College of Business. I am honored to have the opportunity to be a small part of their experience.”

Raisbeck Endowed Dean David Spalding said, “It sends a strong message across campus that the top two spots were from the College of Business. It’s great to have students recognize the high quality faculty we have in business.”
